Bird Walk with Travis Audubon
Join Rachel Zierzow and TTC staff, Jonatan Salinas, to find birds and observe their behavior on the new section of the Butler Trail, the Holly Trailhead, historically part of the decommissioned Holly Power Plant at Festival Beach. Recently planted native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and natural spring water dominate the landscape and provide excellent habitats for many different species of birds. As TTC restores this new section of the trail, we will see a change of birds, so you’ll want to come on this monthly walk.
This bird walk is ideal for beginners, but all levels are welcome. We have binoculars to lend to anyone that doesn’t have a pair. Our walk will total 1-2 miles in about 3 hours, making our way through the Holly Trail and adjacent to Lady Bird Lake to listen to and look for resident birds, migrants, and flyovers. The terrain is mostly flat (dissolved gravel trail and sidewalks) and there is ADA accessibility at the Holly Trail Overlook. In winter, we will stop at the Holly Trail overlook section of the trail a bit to watch the waterfowl.
Registration is required and is limited to 10 participants. A reminder email with pertinent details will be sent before the field trip. Register HERE!

It's My Park Day: Zilker Disc Golf Course
Come join Waterloo Disc Golf Club as we spread mulch on the disc golf course at Zilker Park. We will be putting mulch around the baskets, tee boxes, and other high traffic areas to reduce soil compaction and erosion, and to encourage the growth of the grass that helps keep this course so beautiful. We will also do a little trash pick-up, though the course tends to be fairly clean.
We will provide tools and gloves but PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE and wear work appropriate clothing, and if you can bring an extra pitchfork or rock rake (the heavy duty kind of rake, not lightweight leaf/grass rake), please do so.

It's My Park Day: Zilker Hillside Theater
Join your fellow park lovers as we give back at the Zilker Hillside Theater! We'll spend the day painting mobile walls, building a rock sculpture, and helping get the theater ready for the summer season! Volunteers get the satisfaction of giving back and of course, an AWESOME It's My Park Day t-shirt designed by local artists! We will provide tools and gloves but PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE and wear work appropriate clothing. We'll meet at 2206 William Barton Drive and get started right at 10am. Thank you so much for joining us on It's My Park Day!

It's My Park Day: Zilker Botanical Gardens

As the former Director of Education at Zilker Botanical Garden, she presented programs for garden clubs many times and continues to do so. This particular lecture was done for the National Herb Society, as a keynote at Roundtop, at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the Thinkery, and many area garden clubs.
